Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Kismets ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use kismets.ai and the related Service. We've tried to write this without burying anything in legalese.

1. What We Collect

We collect only what we need to deliver your reading and run the Service:

• Order information: email address, name (if you choose to provide one), and order details. Payment card data goes directly to our payment processor — we never see or store it.
• Birth information you submit: date of birth, time of birth, and (optionally) place of birth. This is the input to the Bazi engine. We treat this as sensitive personal information.
• Optional intake answers: the topic and question you choose to share, plus any tone preference.
• Technical data: anonymous, aggregated information such as page views, referrer, and approximate region — collected to understand how the site is used. We do not run cross-site advertising trackers.

2. How We Use It

• To generate, refine, and deliver your personalized report.
• To send you order confirmations and the report itself by email.
• To respond to your questions or refund/revision requests.
• To improve the engine and the reading quality, using de-identified data only.

We do not sell your information, rent it to anyone, share it with advertisers, or use it to train third-party AI systems.

3. How We Store It

Your birth information is stored encrypted at rest. Access is limited to the editor working on your report and the engineers who maintain the system. Email is the only identifying information linked to your birth data. Internal IDs are used to keep the two decoupled where possible.

4. Third Parties We Use

• Lemon Squeezy — payment processing and merchant-of-record. They handle your payment information, sales-tax/VAT, and order receipts. See their privacy policy.
• Email delivery — we use a transactional email provider to send order confirmations and reports.
• Hosting — kismets.ai runs on our own infrastructure; static content is served from a VPS we control.
• Anthropic Claude API — used as a language model during report generation. The Bazi engine produces structured data first; we pass minimal text through the language model for natural-language refinement. Birth data itself is not shared as raw input to the language model.

5. Cookies and Tracking

We use a minimal, privacy-friendly analytics setup that does not require cookies, does not fingerprint visitors, and does not build profiles for advertising. We do not run Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or similar trackers.

6. Your Rights

Regardless of where you live, you can ask us to:

• Access a copy of the data we hold about you.
• Correct inaccurate information.
• Delete your data ("right to be forgotten").
• Export your data in a readable format.
• Object to or restrict certain uses.

Email verify@kismets.ai with the request. We respond within 30 days.

7. EU / UK / California Residents

If you are in the EU or UK, our legal basis for processing your information is performance of a contract (delivering the reading you ordered) and legitimate interest (improving the Service in de-identified form). Where required, we will also rely on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

California residents have additional rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know, delete, correct, and opt out of "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information as defined by California law.

8. Children

The Service is for users 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has submitted information, contact us at verify@kismets.ai and we will delete it.

9. International Transfers

If you are outside the country where our servers are located, your information will be transferred to and processed where our infrastructure and providers operate. We use appropriate safeguards as required by applicable law.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy when our practices change or when required by law. Material changes will be communicated by updating the "Last updated" date and, when appropriate, by email.
